My whole career has been dedicated to working with an extensive range of people, enabling them to overcome difficulties and to meet their full potential. I have nearly 30 years experience of working in Local Authorities - including at a Senior Manager level. This work meant responding to the needs of people who encountered a variety of complex issues which were having a negative impact on their lives. These issues included (but is not a complete list):
All forms of abuse,
Depression,
Anxiety,
Trauma,
Stress,
Drug and alcohol use,
Sexual Identify and sexual orientation,
Disability,
Domestic violence,
Finances, poverty and debt,
Employment,
Anger and violence,
Low self-esteem and confidence,
Leaving Care, Foster Care and adoption,
Anti-social behaviour, anger and aggression, etc
More recently and whilst undertaking my MSc in Counselling from Bangor University, I have worked within the NHS and received referrals to work with a wide range of people with varying issues and levels of complexity that needed to be addressed through formal counselling. I passed the MSc in Counselling with Distinction. I am currently due to start a PhD within the Psychology Dept at Bangor University.
I have also been a Foster Carer for the the past 18 and currently care for 3 wonderful young people long term. I am completely focused on providing the highest standards of counselling and psychotherapy and in meeting the specific needs of each and every client who I have the privilege to work with.
My counselling and psychotherapy work is underpinned by modern and extensive research. I will only use approaches and methods which have generated a strong evidence base of effectiveness and therapeutic value. I am open, friendly, authentic and passionate about my counselling and psychotherapy work.
If you have any questions before we start to work together, then please get in touch and I would be more than happy to respond as swiftly as possible.
